Different Faces of Affiliate Programs

Some people think that affiliate marketing is all about hard selling stuff, they couldn’t me more wrong about it. There are a lot of options out there that you can promote as a marketer without even actively selling anything and still make a lot of money. Affiliate marketing is no longer about a one-time sale of products or programs, there are so many ways to make money online but the first thing you really have to do is to know what’s available out there.

1. Direct Selling – This is the most well-know form of affiliate marketing and there’s not much to be said about it. Basically all you do is you send people to a merchant and you get a percentage or a fixed amount for all sales that generates. That’s pretty straightforward and I don’t think I have anything to add more to describe this form.

2. Gambling Affiliate – Now this is where things start to get interesting. In most gambling sites, the referrer (or affiliate) gets a commission every single time the one you referred reaches or spends a certain amount. Knowing how some people are with gambling, just a few big referrals can keep you going with commissions forever.

3. Credit cards – This is another option when it comes to affiliate marketing without selling anything. A lot of people now have a hard time getting credit from traditional institutions so they usually turn to online credit card companies that offer slightly higher rates but easier approval. This aspect of credit makes it almost too easy to get people to sign up for new credit cards online.

4. Mortgage programs – A lot of people are now worried about mortgages and how the current economy is hurting everyone. A good way to make money online is to refer these people to companies that review mortgages and act as financial advisors to these people for a fee, of course you’ll get referral money as well. Think of it as helping people financially and getting financially rewarded as well.

5. Shopping / Review Programs – This is something you really should look at if you’re a shop-a-holic and you love to review the things you have. If you have a blog or a review site, you can easily make money by linking your reviews to the sites of the merchants that carry the same product. The commissions for these types of affiliate sales aren’t that high but the volume usually makes up for the small rate.

6. Online Dating Programs – People are always looking for relationships. If you blog or talk about relationships then this is something that you might consider doing. Dating programs offer a lot of money, sometimes even hundreds of dollars for every person that signs up under your referral link. The dating business is a big business and you can do your part in helping people find their match online.

Whatever sort of program you choose, be sure to pick a niche that you’re comfortable with. It’s no use going for the highest paying program if you know nothing about the field. Start where you’re really comfortable and before you know it, you’ll be doing stuff you love and you’ll be earning a lot of money at the same time.
