Marketing on Twitter the Correct Way
If you have a business or product you want to promote it’s important to follow some guidelines when you’re marketing on Twitter.
Twitter is a tremendous site to be able to network and chat with people all over the world. Unlike Facebook, there’s a very limited space and ability to share info with people, so it’s important to captivate your audience from the start. Anyone can talk about what they are eating for lunch or what movies their watching but is that what’s going to capture peoples attention?
Just think about how many tweets people see on a daily basis. What are you going to write about that’s going to grab peoples attention and get them listen to what you have to say?
People are being inundated with product pitches and business opportunities everyday on in the internet so it’s important to be careful when promoting any type of business on Twitter. It’s okay to talk about your business or product but use discretion.
Try to avoid becoming known as a “product or mlm pusher” when you’re marketing on Twitter. This will severely hurt your credibility and your followers will drop off very quickly.
Make sure you share about what’s going on in your life, be personable, share quotes that interest you, retweet what others have to say, but most of all be yourself. Don’t try to be someone your not.
People don’t care about what you’re going to wear tonight or what time you’re going to bed, so keep your content fresh and lively in order to keep your followers engaged.
You can still post about what your eating or what movie your watching as long as you balance these tweets with others types of tweets.
If you’re marketing on Twitter then here’s a couple of guidelines to follow. Only send out 1 business tweet for every 3 tweets that you post and only send out between 5-6 tweets a day.
Your followers will stay more engaged with what you have to say if you follow these guidelines.
Make sure you post your Twitter link on your website, blog, email signatures, and social media websites. The more places you post your twitter link, the more followers you will get. Remember that the more followers you have, the more people will see your messages.
If you don’t want to get your account banned then I highly recommend avoiding automatic Twitter services that offer bulk followers and mass tweeting. There are some legitimate sites out there but avoid using them if possible.
There are some sites like Tweetlater, and Just Unfollow that are legitimate sites. Just make sure that if you are going to use these kinds of sites, do your research on them first to make sure they are legitimate.
You want to take every precaution possible to make sure that your Twitter account doesn’t get banned.
Marketing on Twitter the right way is a great way to build credibility for you and your business. If you do it right Twitter can provide your business with a tremendous amount of leads.
Remember to be always be yourself, be consistent, be interesting, follow the proper rules of engagement, and Twitter will be a tremendous marketing resource. Are you the next Twitter marketing rockstar? If so, prove it. Go out there and start tweeting! Watch out Ashton Kutcher!
