The Reason A Lot Of Prosuming Marketing Projects Don’t Work And How One Can Avoid The Same Errors: Part 5

If you have read the first four pieces in this series, you now have written your affiliate marketing site, have plenty of links to your associate partners and you are well on the way with your SEO campaign, having found the keywords, logged the website with hundreds of internet business directories, you are advertising it with social media, writing pieces to spread links and keywords back to your site which should be steadily escalating the results tables and you might have pay per click (PPC) adverts in position tempting potential clients to your shop.

The remainder of this series of pieces is to explain you how to check how your search engine optimisation efforts are doing, and where your affiliate marketing website is as far as getting it into the notice of your buyers. These tools are all free, easy to use and should be checked at least once each week.

Firstly, have spreadsheets set up. One should be a checklist which will have a list of processes to perform when producing items, a note of the keywords inserted and all the tasks involved in writing such as: create article text, produce title, read and amend article, ensure links work, spin title, spin article text and then make a note of the various submission subject headers used if necessary. This helps make sure that your SEO is moving forward and placing links in the correct place. Also have a spreadsheet with a list of your keywords, and a note alongside displaying on what date they were used in an item, which will help you keep your output balanced. To kick off with, choose the 2 most vital keywords, create and upload ten pieces with those in as fast as you can.

Download and install the Alexa toolbar. This is a brilliant tool which, when it has indexed your site, will show the ranking number of your affiliate marketing site (and you can monitor your competition’s rankings too!) and it’s worth making a note on your spreadsheet to monitor how your site is moving up (or not!). I check mine every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Using your Google userid, you now have access to some useful Google tools. The first of these, Webmaster, tells you how your website is seen by Google. It tells you the number of links it has unearthed to your shop, what searches it has included in the results and how many times it has been viewed, and how many times searchers have selected it. This is very good when it comes to calculating where you have to concentrate your search engine optimisation work to make certain of a good logical enhancing for your affiliate marketing site.

Google Analytics will ask you to insert a line of code in the header of the HTML of your website pages, and then it will track how many browsers you have had, how they came to your affiliate marketing site (via search engine, direct or following a link from someplace else), how long they stayed and how many pages they read. It even shows you where they were in the world. This is strong stuff and you have to make a point of finding out how to view it as you may have to alter your SEO accordingly.

Another good procedure is to register yourself a blog on something like Blogspot or WordPress. Upload a copy of the unspun text of each item you produce in here, create the links to your affiliate marketing shop, and it creates an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) and you can then utilise a website called “Ping-o-matic” to spread to RSS feeds, and you can add the Social RSS app on your Facebook page which will display a copy in your profile page. WordPress will also announce each posting on your Facebook and Twitter accounts as well. These are simple pain free ways to produce really good SEO for your affiliate marketing shop.

Other tools you can use now and again are press release websites, sometimes free, which will distribute a statement including links to different places which may not make much of a splash to the SEO, but the further you can spread the message, the better chance you have that your affiliate marketing site is going to be profitable.
