There Might Be An Opportunity To Retrieve Meaningful From The Kalmindon Wreckage
I ought to count one’s good fortune, particularly in hard days such as these. I’m living a circumstance of such horrible financial peril that I have not dealt with before since the cash balances are running out and it’s the closest to the cliff that I’ve ever been, and I’ve been near before.
Periods of unemployment are hardly new, it’s the contractor’s curse, but this time it’s worse because I was relying on someone who has betrayed very badly and very late. In the spring this year I trained in SEO through a firm named Kalmindon that was advertising at the Jobcentre. They wanted folks to come in and they would provide the clients. I had 2 interviews and the only sticking point was that I had to pay them 3000 for the training. Methods were found and I finished the tuition and waited for them to supply paying clients so I could begin to earn my cash back and start a new, well paid career – let’s face it, what could go wrong?
Well, quite a lot as it turned out. The business couldn’t come up with a thing, let alone the “…employment guaranteed on completion of training” as promised on the page I originally wrote to them on. And because I initially met them in the offices of a couple of Job Centre’s and the notice was originally seen at Jobcentre Plus it all seemed kosher but it seems that there was no job. It was just a con, Kalmindon just wanted the dough for the training, and then a long series of fobbing off started during which time my finances, mainly the money left to me when my nana passed on earlier this year, have evaporated to almost zero.
So, instead I am doing SEO on my own site to try and either get some customers of my own or at least establish to potential employers that I can actually do this. So I am trying to use my business to offer both SEO and IT support in the Black Country. As my wife is having treatment for breast cancer I need to be able to work via home so as to be able to go to the hospital with her, particularly when she gets underway with radiotherapy just before Christmas and she will be going every day.
Businesses in the Black Country need IT support the same as as anyone else and small companies may not have dedicated support to call on. And many will have sites that don’t have much of a web presence as far as displaying in the search results is concerned and this is a big issue as if possible buyers cannot find their way onto the webpages through a general search for things a company does, then the site frankly isn’t worth having.
So, although time is short and I have to to find some type of paid job as fast as I can, I do feel that with SEO and IT support I can do valuable services to Black Country firms and help the local economy. And in these hard times, if I can get more clients that I can deal with personally, I can take somebody on or who knows SEO, perhaps a number and try and do something about the unemployment numbers at the same time! Worth a go wouldn’t you say?
