What Front End Marketing Can Do For Your Online Business

We are at a day and age where most things we need can be got from the Internet. Whether this is a good thing or bad, I am not one to say. What I do want to say about it is that due to the fact, running an online business is not a gimmick or something that is not feasible. The problem with an online business though, is keeping your customers. This is where front end marketing comes in.

So what is front end marketing all about? Generally speaking, it is the act where you offer something of value to your customers to keep them coming back for more. It can be a free introductory gift or maybe something that you can sell low, if you can’t afford to give stuff away. Why do this? You see, customers will learn to appreciate your good will and take it as a sign of your sincerity thus giving them reason to come back to you. Think of it as a way of telling them that you are an honest and all around great guy to deal with, who will help them if you can. That or something to that effect is what you want them to feel.

Reading an interview I found with famous Internet marketing guru Jim Fleck, I found out a lot about front end marketing which he expounds on in great detail. The main thing he was talking about was the cost of acquisition. Basically what he means by this is that it takes money to make money, and if you want to lure long time, returning customers, sometimes you have to spend a couple of bucks here and there.

Here’s an example of front end marketing that I do with my mobile photography studio. It’s not directly related to Internet marketing so please bear with me, I am currently devising a way on how to integrate this to my online businesses though. Anyway, what I do is offer free portraits to clients. No strings attached. That’s the front end part. What I do then is take several photos and choose maybe the top five then have them all printed. Now, when the clients come back to claim their free portrait, they see the others and so ask how much to buy them. Whether they buy one or all the extra prints I made, it easily covers my initial cost of giving the one free print away. So in effect, i spent money, to make more money.

In Internet marketing, front end marketing is key if you want to achieve success. A lot of people visit a site to check prices then leave after a few minutes, seconds even. But if you have something to pique their interest, whether it is a free gift or a special deal, the chances of them staying is higher. And this in turn translates to them coming back for more. In my photography business, I get clients I don’t normally get. In the extremely competitive niche of photography, I had to offer something others don’t to help set me apart from the competition. Do the same in your business online, and you will soon see success.
